Origami Microfluidics: A Review of Research Progress and Biomedical Applications

In recent years, origami/paper folding art has been applied to more and scientific research due the efficiently producing tiny structures at a low cost; inspired by this, origami microfluidics (the combination of with paper-based microfluidics) also proposed. microfluidic devices, three-dimensional fluid paths can be formed directly paper pre-deposited hydrophobic barriers accomplish complex manipulation. Compared layer-by-layer approach, is convenient easier fabricate microchannels meet increasing requirements end users improve functionality microdevices. This review trying introduce most current developments microfluidics, focusing on barrier processing, folding, methods fix folded paper. By application prospects in biomedical field have expanded; thus, some applications are briefly reviewed this study. Finally, challenges perspectives were discussed review.
